We all know that simply by moving more and eating well we can lose weight and stay in shape, but sometimes we find we are too busy, too tired, or are simply lacking in motivation. So I have put together 10 of the best ways to help you keep active, healthy, inspired, and most importantly motivated to keep you looking and feeling your best.
Invest in a lovely piece of fitness clothing. Create your own points system of exercise. Aim each week to achieve 100 Points. You can select which activities you prefer. Aim to do at least one of the below activities every day; every time you do any of these for 10 minutes you earn the indicated number of points:
Home Toning: 15
Music is one of the best ways to boost our motivation as we all have those songs that inspire us, so create your own Playlists. You may have one that’s for walking; for this it would be good to have music that has beats per minute of between 130 – 145. For running or high intensity training, look at a range of between 160 -180 beats per minute. Then also have a special song that you can play when you are struggling with motivation, one that instantly makes you want to jump up and put on your trainers!!
We all know that Goals are great to set, and you have so many choices online of events from cycling to running, but why not also create your own personal ones, and maybe get a few friends to join you. You can then motivate each other with your training. And you can use social media such as Facebook to help put together your event. This could just be as simple as mapping out a local 20k walk in your neighbourhood. This will give you something special to train and aim for.
5: YOUR COOKBOOK
Make your own cookbook. Why not get your creative juices flowing, and compile your own recipe book, putting together some healthy salads, soups, smoothies, and tasty healthy recipes, to keep you feeling and looking super fit.
6: TALK TEST
Get the intensity right by the using the simple Talk Test
Less is more. Research has found that shorter workouts can be just as effective as long ones; the key thing is to make sure that you are training at the right intensity. You can do this by using the Talk Test.
a) Can easily talk: this means you need to train harder. You are in the moderate zone.
b) Can talk but unable to have a full conversation: this means you are working aerobically and in the ideal fitness zone. This is the best zone to be in for fat burning!
c) Cannot talk: this means you are training too hard, and can ease back slightly.
7: INSPIRATIONAL RESEARCH
Spend some time looking through some magazines over the weekend, and find some inspirational images that will motivate you to stay on track. This might be a woman looking in amazing shape, or just an outfit that you like, or even a hairstyle, Cut these pictures out and keep them close to hand as your instant visual goal on how you want to look.
8: BIN IT
Once you’ve reached your target weight, throw out or give away every piece of clothing that doesn’t fit. The idea of having to buy a whole new wardrobe if you gain the weight back will serve as a strong incentive to maintain your new figure!
9: DRINK UP
We all know it is important to keep the body fully hydrated as this keeps our skin plumped, keeps us cool and helps our function properly, but not so many people know that for weight loss water is essential to help your liver. If you are aiming to achieve weight loss, then water will play a vital role in aiding the liver while it converts stored fat to energy. 10: BECOME YOUR OWN STAIR MASTER
Turn stairs into your STEP machine by always taking two at a time. This creates a bigger dynamic movement, and is similar to performing a lunge. And you can achieve more of an impact by avoiding using the handrail, so you have to use power and balance through your legs and tummy muscles. So make it a rule now: two at a time!
