Overnight Festive Oats

Try this easy-to-make Overnight Festive Oats – it makes the perfect breakfast for the festive season and is all prepared the night before.

Ingredients:

50 GRAMS OF ROLLED PORRIDGE OATS (ROLLED ARE BEST AS THEY REALLY SOAK UP ALL THE FLAVOUR AND GIVE YOU A CREAMY TEXTURE)

1/2 CUP OF MILK OF YOUR CHOICE

2 TABLESPOONS OF GREEK YOGHURT

25 GRAMS OF SULTANAS

25 GRAMS OF CURRANTS

1 TEASPOON OF HONEY

SPLASH OF ORANGE JUICE

PINCH OF CINNAMON

OPTIONAL – DRIED ORANGE SLICES OR FRESH ORANGE SLICES (TO THE TOP IN THE MORNING)

METHOD

In a jar or any suitable container add in your oats, then pour in your milk and Greek yoghurt. Now mix in your currants and sultanas, and mix thoroughly together.

Finally pour in your splash of orange juice, honey and pinch of cinnamon and mix all together once again. Place in the fridge and leave overnight.

Then in the morning, your oats will have soaked up all the milk and yoghurt.

This will give you a lovely creamy texture and will be bursting with the smell of Christmas.

Your oats are ready to eat and to make it look super festive and give it an extra zest top it with dried oranges and pieces of fresh orange slices.

SOME OF THE HEALTH BENEFITS:

Oats make a great breakfast as they are soluble fibre and have a low glycaemic index which means they slowly release energy.

Greek Yoghurt is packed full of calcium and helps to keep your bones strong and is a good source of protein.

Currants are high in vitamin c which helps to keep your immune system strong.
